ONAM CELEBRATION

 ONAM CELEBRATION

Date:26 & 27 August 2025

Our Onam celebration at Sabarigiri College of Education took place on August 26th and 27th.

The festivities began on the 26th with the unveiling of our beautifully designed Onam banner carrying the theme “Dhe Maveli Pinem”. Soon after, everyone gathered in the auditorium where fun games awaited us. Juniors, seniors, and teachers alike joined with great enthusiasm. We were delighted when Dr. Sabari Sir graced the occasion with his heartfelt Onam message.

The games created an atmosphere of joy and laughter lemon and spoon, sundariku pott todal, sack race, kulam kara, biscuit kadi, vellam kudi, pazham theeti, and spin and make a goal kept the spirit high. After lunch, we shifted our focus to practice, preparing our dance and song items for the next day’s program.

On the 27th, the whole campus brightened with students and teachers dressed in traditional Kerala attire. The day’s program was officially inaugurated by our Sabarigiri Management Chairman, Dr. Jayakumar Sir, followed by a warm welcome address from Principal Roy Sir. Our anchor Silla kept the event lively, while Sreedevi Miss and Shyam Sir also shared their thoughts. Dr. Jayakumar Sir once again gave an inspiring Onam message. Pooja filled the atmosphere with her melodious Onam song, and Sarath delivered the vote of thanks.

The most exciting part was the mega Thiruvathira performance on the school ground, an unforgettable experience for all of us. It was immediately followed by a surprise flash mob by students from different departments. A thrilling tug-of-war between juniors and seniors added to the excitement—the seniors emerged victorious and proudly shared their prize, a bunch of bananas, with everyone.

Next came the much-awaited Onasadya. We not only served the delicious feast but also relished it together, strengthening the bond of togetherness. The celebration continued in the general hall, where Shifa and Soorya performed a graceful dance, while a junior student and Sarath entertained us with songs. Sarath and Soorya returned with another energetic dance performance. The kann ketti kalam adi game brought laughter as both teachers and students participated with equal spirit.

The grand finale of the day was marked by collective celebration—dancing joyfully with our teachers to a variety of songs. The Onam celebration was indeed a memorable and cherished experience for everyone.
