REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

 22 DAY : MONDAY:11/08/25

Today, I reached school at 9:15 a.m. and signed the attendance register. The assembly began at 9:14 a.m., and soon after, I received a substitution in my concerned class for the first period, where I taught the topic' Role of Liver and Pancreas in Digestion'. Sister Neethu accompanied me to observe the class. As the syllabus was incomplete, Sister Neethu arranged three consecutive classes in 9A during their IT and Health periods. In the third period, I taught the topic 'Digestion Process in the Stomach', which was scheduled in their Health period. During the lunch break, we participated in the mid-day meal programme and served food to the students. After lunch, I got two more substitutions in my concerned class during their IT period, where I taught 'Digestion Process in the Small Intestine' and 'Digestion Process in the Large Intestine'. By 3:45 p.m., the school dispersed, and after ensuring that all students had left the campus safely, we returned home.

23 DAY : TUESDAY:12/08/2025

I reached the school at 9:15 a.m, and signed the attendance register. The school assembly had already started at 9:45 a.m, and after the assembly, I proceeded to my classes.

During the first period, I had a class in my concerned class, IX I, where I conducted a diagnostic test to assess the learners’ prior knowledge. In the third period, I again got a substitution in class IX I and taught the topic “Structure and Position of Villi.” The students listened attentively, and the session went smoothly.

Later, I had a substitution in class VI A, where I engaged the students in craft and art activities, which they enjoyed with great interest. During the noon meal program, I actively participated along with other teachers and served food to the students, which gave me an opportunity to interact with them more closely.

In the fifth period, I got another substitution in class IX I, where I taught the topic “Components of Blood and Their Functions.” The learners were curious and actively involved in the discussion. During the sixth period, I got a substitution in class VI F, where I gave the students simple activities to keep them engaged and motivated. During the seventh period I observed a class hanldled by the trainee Muhsina where she teach the topic'Types of blood vessels and its features'

At 3:45 p.m., the school closed with the national anthem and prayer. After ensuring that all students had safely dispersed, I signed out and returned home.

REFLECTION ON PEER OBSERVATION

On 12/08/25 I had the opportunity to observe a class handled by the teacher trainee, Muhsina sulaiman. The overall session was conducted in a systematic manner and provided me with valuable insights into classroom teaching. The trainee demonstrated good classroom management skills by maintaining discipline and engaging the learners throughout the session. The use of the blackboard was neat and systematic, which helped the students follow the content easily. The teacher trainee was confident in subject knowledge and delivered the lesson in a clear and structured way. The learners were attentive and actively participated, which showed a positive classroom environment.on the area that required improvement was the limited use of learning aids. The session mainly depended on the blackboard, which, although effective, was not sufficient to cater to the needs of all learners. More variety in learning aids, could have made the learning experience more interesting and effective. Using such aids would also help in addressing the diverse learning styles of students. Additionally, while classroom management was good, there is still scope for improvement in ensuring equal participation of all learners.overall, the class conducted by Muhsina was successful, showing clarity of content and good teaching confidence. With the inclusion of more learning aids and strategies for active participation, the teaching learning process can be made even more engaging and effective.

24 DAY : WEDNESDAY:13/08/2025

I reached the school at 9:15 a.m. and signed the attendance register. The school assembly began at 9:45 a.m., and after the assembly, I prepared for my classes.During the first hour i had a class at my concerned class 9 A, where i teach the topic "Formation of Tissue Fluid and Lymph and Their Role in Absorption of nutrients "During the third hour, I got a substitution class in my concerned class IX A, where I taught the topic “Lymphatic system and its functions ” The class was observed by another teacher trainee, Muhsina. The students were attentive and actively engaged in the discussion. After completing the lesson, I distributed the answer sheets of the diagnostic test. The highest mark was 19 out of 20, scored by Faina D. Gabriel, while the lowest was 9 out of 20, scored by Jaghan A. This evaluation helped me to identify the strengths and weaknesses of individual learners. In the fourth hour, I got a substitution in class V B, where I engaged the students meaningfully with interactive activities. At lunchtime, we went to the refectory and served food to the students. It was a joyful experience to interact with them informally. Afterwards, we had our meal and returned to the office to sign the register.During the fifth hour, I again got a substitution in my concerned class IX A, where I conducted an individual remedial session. Since the lesson plan was activity-based, I adapted it into an ICT-supported session and taught the topic “Structure of Tooth.” The use of ICT made the class more engaging and visually effective for the students. The school dispersed at 3:45 p.m. with the national anthem and prayer, and after ensuring all formalities were completed, we left the campus at 4:00 p.m.

SUGGESTION MADE BY PEER TEACHER

After observing my class, my peer teacher provided constructive feedback that highlighted both the strengths and areas for improvement.

The teacher appreciated my friendly interaction with the students, which created a comfortable classroom atmosphere and provided a better learning experience. The questioning techniques I used were also commended, as they encouraged active student participation and critical thinking. Additionally, the effective use of the blackboard was noted as a strength, since the content was well-organized and supported the teaching–learning process.

On the other hand, the teacher suggested that I need to improve on certain aspects. Voice modulation was highlighted as an area that requires attention, as varying my tone would help maintain student interest and emphasize important points. The teacher also pointed out that I should handle instances of student misconduct more effectively, ensuring smooth classroom management. Furthermore, the chart used in the class should be neater and more legible, as this would enhance clarity and support student understanding.

I reached the school at 9:15 a.m. and signed the attendance register. During the second hour, I had a class in IX I, where I taught the topic “Types of Blood Vessels.” The students showed interest and participated actively in the discussion. Later, I got a substitution in my concerned class IX I, which I utilized for a group remedial session on the topic “Digestion Process in Cow.” The students benefitted from the additional explanation and group activities. At lunchtime, we went to the refectory and served food to the students, after which we had our own meal.        After the lunch break, the school election was conducted in the auditorium. As teacher trainees, we were actively involved in the entire process, and specific duties were assigned to us. We helped in arranging the students in order, maintaining discipline, and ensuring the smooth conduct of the election. We also assisted in the counting of votes and took part in the official procedures of declaring the results.Being entrusted with such responsibilities gave me a real sense of involvement in the administrative and democratic aspects of school life. It was indeed a great learning opportunity, as I not only gained practical exposure in organizing and managing large groups of students but also understood how democratic practices are implemented at the school level. This was truly a valuable and memorable experience that enriched my training. The school dispersed at 3:45 p.m., and after ensuring that all students had left safely, we signed out and returned home.

The programme was well-organized and added a lively start to the day’s schedule. On this day, classes were conducted only for high school students, including standards VIII, IX, and X. In the first period, I got a substitution in my concerned class IX A, where I taught the topic “Role of Hepatic and Portal Vein.” Afterwards, I got a substitution in class VIII A and engaged the students effectively. Later, I again got a substitution in class IX A, where I conducted a whole-class remedial session on the topic “Digestion in Amoeba.”

During the lunch break, we actively participated in the noon meal programme by serving food to the students. Later, I visited my subject teacher, Sr. Neethu, and informed her that we would be leaving the school and rejoin after Onam vacation. She divided the upcoming portions for me to handle after the holidays. In the sixth period, I again got a substitution in class IX A, where I discussed and revised important exam-related questions with the students and wished them all the best for their examinations.
