GENERAL REFLECTION - WEEK 05

 WEEKEND GENERAL REFLECTION

Date- 18/8/2025

On August 18, 2025, a reflection session was organized at Sabarigiri College, held in the general hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.The program was graced by the presence of our principal, Roy Sir, along with respected teachers Sreedevi Miss, Meenu Miss, Revathy Miss, Jaseena Miss, Rakhi Miss, and Shyam Sir.

The session began with Joyce from Sabarigiri School, who enthusiastically shared her enriching school experience. She reflected on how the internship helped her improve her personality development, voice modulation, and classroom management techniques, while also allowing her to build a strong emotional bond with her first-standard students.Following her, Jerin from our school St. Goretti H. S. S Punalur, explained how her teaching skills had advanced. She highlighted the systematic management of curricular and extracurricular activities in her school, which provided her with valuable exposure to different aspects of teaching.

The reflection then moved to Ashna from Jawahar School, Edamulackal, who described her journey as both challenging and insightful. She pointed out that several students struggled even with basic vocabulary knowledge, and she worked consistently to improve both their learning levels and their behavioral patterns. She also observed a lingering reluctance between boys and girls in interacting with one another.

Summaya from Jawahar School, Ayoor, shared a different perspective. Owing to the smaller student strength, she found it easier to manage the classes and develop closer bonds with the learners. However, she also shared a saddening incident, mentioning the tragic news of a tenth-standard student who died by suicide, which deeply affected her experience.

Next, Arjun from Poredom School narrated his positive experience, appreciating the approachable nature of the headmaster and the cooperative attitude of the students. Similarly, Bhavya from Puthayam School reflected on her struggles with students who lacked basic mathematical and language skills. Despite the difficulties, she and her peers formed an emotional attachment to the school, making it hard for them to return to college.

Aiswarya from GHSS Karukone spoke about her very supportive experience, commending the encouraging headmaster and teachers. She mentioned that while students were generally good, the main challenges she faced were with discipline and class management.

Then Ameena from Vayala School echoed a similar difficulty, pointing out that many students were unable to perform even simple operations like addition and subtraction, which posed a significant challenge, especially for math trainee teachers.

Adding to the reflections, Revathy from Yeroor School noted that her institution had undergone several positive changes and she admired the friendly and cooperative teachers there.

Finally, Shifana from West GHSS concluded with her positive reflection, explaining that her experience taught her valuable lessons about what qualities a teacher should possess and what should be avoided. Soorya and Ashwathy, also from West School, reinforced these positive insights with their own experiences.

The program came to a close with an inspiring speech by Roy Sir, who summarized the collective experiences, highlighting the strengths and challenges discussed, and provided a clear outline of the upcoming responsibilities and future work for the trainees.
