GENERAL REFLECTION WEEK -03

On the 2nd of August, 2025, a general reflection session was held as part of our Phase 1 teaching practice. The event took place at 11:00 a.m. in the general hall and was graced by the presence of our respected Principal, Dr. Roy Sir, along with our option teachers Sreedevi Miss, Shamla Miss, Shyam Sir, and Rakhi Miss. Although attendance was expected from all student teachers, many were notably absent. The session commenced with a warm welcome from our Principal, who initiated the proceedings with a brief address.
Dr. Roy then detailed the upcoming schedule, informing us that our school teaching phase would continue until the 14th of August. He instructed us to complete the chapters assigned to us within this time frame. Furthermore, he mentioned that all trainees are to report back to college on the 18th of August. Following this announcement, representatives from each school were invited to come forward and reflect on their teaching practice experiences.
Stephy, representing our team from St. Goretti HSS Punalur, shared insights Arathy from Karukone School, Reeba presented her experiences from Sabarigiri HSS, while Kripa reflected on her time at Edamulackal Jawahar. Keerthi, from Puthayam and Pooja, who taught at Karavaloor School, described a less supportive environment where teacher trainees often felt neglected and unwelcome, which hindered their teaching experience. Aravind from Vayala School spoke about the difficulties of managing classrooms with around 60 students. Additionally, Shamnad (VVHSS Poredom), Silla (Yeroor GHSS), and Gloria (West HSS) also contributed their valuable reflections.
The session continued with reflections from our option teachers, who had observed our classes. Sreedevi Miss, from the Natural Science department, began by expressing her appreciation. She recalled her observation visits She appreciated the learning aid I used in my class a video on the nutrition of Hydra accompanied by an engaging song. The catchy tune captured the students' attention, making them more interested and involved in the lesson. She specifically praised how the use of music helped enhance student engagement and made the topic more enjoyable.She also praised Pooja for her initiative in purchasing a projector with her own money, and concluded that the Phase 1 observation visits were effective due to their surprise nature.
Shamla Miss, representing the English department, observed that many trainees appeared visibly nervous during their observations. She extended her best wishes to all of us for the remainder of our teaching practice. Shyam Sir, from Physical Science, added that several trainees would benefit from further improvement in their teaching techniques.
