WORLD AIDS DAY
WORLD AIDS DAY
DATE :29 NOVEMBER 2024
World AIDS Day is an essential occasion to remind us of our continued commitment to preventing new HIV infections and providing critical services to all individuals living with HIV worldwide. The global observance, which takes place every year on December 1, raises awareness about HIV/AIDS, combats stigma, and promotes understanding and support for those affected by the disease. The theme for the 37th World AIDS Day in 2024 is “Collective Action: Sustain and Accelerate HIV Progress,” underscoring the importance of collective effort to eliminate AIDS.
To mark this important day, the NSS student teachers at Sabarigiri College of Education organized a program on November 29, with guidance from Jaseena Miss and Preetha Miss. A key feature of the event was a street play performed at Chanthamukk, Anchal, aimed at educating the public about AIDS.
The event kicked off at 2:00 pm, but we all gathered around 1:30 pm to prepare for the play. The script for the street play, thoughtfully written by Shifana, was designed to involve all student-teachers. Each participant played a significant role, ensuring full engagement and contribution to the performance. The skit was rehearsed multiple times to avoid mistakes, and we all gave our best efforts to make it a success. A dance performance by Soorya added extra flair to the event, capturing the attention of the audience and making the performance both engaging and memorable.
The program concluded at 3:30 pm. Following the play, the NSS team offered puffs and drinks to all participants, promoting a sense of camaraderie and appreciation for everyone’s contribution.
The street play was well-received by the local audience, successfully delivering the message of awareness and empathy. It highlighted the collective efforts of the NSS unit in addressing important social issues and emphasized the significance of unity in spreading awareness.
The event not only met the objectives of World AIDS Day but also helped strengthen the bonds among student-teachers, making it a meaningful and memorable experience for all involved.
