FOOD FEST
FOOD FEST
DATE:18 NOVEMBER 2024
A food festival is a celebration of culinary arts where food lovers, chefs, and vendors unite to display the diverse flavors, textures, and traditions of both global and local cuisines. These lively events provide a fantastic opportunity to sample an assortment of dishes, from street food to gourmet creations, while learning about the cultural significance behind each one. Whether savoring authentic regional specialities or indulging in creative fusion cuisine, a food festival guarantees an unforgettable experience for your taste buds. It’s not just about eating; it’s about connecting with people, discovering new flavors, and celebrating the joy of food.
On November 18, 2024, the teacher trainees of Sabarigiri College of Education, along with the College Union 'DRUTA,' organized a food festival called 'RASAMAYAM.' The event involved five assembly groups, each responsible for setting up a stall.
Each group displayed exceptional planning and gave their stalls unique names and themes. The food festival was held in the general hall of our college. Students arrived early to decorate their respective stalls, with each stall's location decided beforehand. Every team offered a wide variety of healthy and delicious dishes.
My assembly group, consisting of 11 members, named our stall 'EAT illam.' We meticulously planned the event the day before, with everyone contributing by making decoration items, such as caps, and bringing various dishes. Our stall offered a range of dishes, including starters like Black Coffee, Passion Fruit Juice, Lemon Juice, Fruit Salad, and Lays Chaat. The main course featured Kappa with Mulak Chammanthi, Sweet Potato with Chutney, Chapathi with Vegetable Curry, Fried Rice with Chicken Curry, Beef Fry, Fish Pickle, and Pasta. Desserts included Caramel Pudding, Payasam with Boli, Halwa, and Ladoo. We also served snacks like Porotta Roll and Murukku. Additionally, we set up a fun game session to identify hidden spices and a space where visitors could leave reviews about our food. I, Nuju Fathima. M prepared vada, chutney, halwa, kappa and mulakuchammanthi for the fest and also created some decoration items, including a cap.
Our Principal, Dr. Roy, and other faculty members tasted the dishes and praised our efforts. Everyone enjoyed a variety of dishes from each stall. The event not only allowed us to savor different foods but also reminded us of the importance of traditional dishes and the significance of maintaining a healthy diet.
