SCHOOL INDUCTION PROGRAMME DAY -3

 THIRD DAY

DATE:23/10/24

DAY:WEDNESDAY

On the third day of the school induction program, I arrived at school at 9:15 AM. I first went to the office to mark my attendance. Then, I met with my subject teacher to learn about the schedule for the day.

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

At 9:30 AM, an assembly took place. Following that, Muhsina sulaiman and I discussed topics for our upcoming shared classes. During the third hour, we observed the subject teacher's class for the eighth standard. The fourth hour featured a pencil drawing and short story writing competition for high school students in the auditorium, where we monitored the participants. By 12:30 PM, we collected their submissions and handed them to the arts teacher. At 12:45 PM, we went to the refectory to distribute food to the students as part of the mid-day meal program, which included boiled eggs. After lunch, I had two substitution classes-one during the fifth hour and another during the sixth hour.

REFLECTION ON CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY

Today, during the third hour, I had the opportunity to observe the 8th-grade class taught by Ms. Pinky from 11:25 AM to 12:05 PM. The class division is D, consisting of 46 students: 24 girls and 22 boys, with 38 students present today.

Before starting the lesson, the teacher reviewed the previous topic by asking the students questions. She then introduced the new topic, "Different Types of Cultivation," from the 8th unit titled "Let's Regain Our Fields." The teacher wrote the name of the first type of cultivation on the blackboard and explained it. She continued to detail each type of cultivation with examples, occasionally asking students to observe pictures in their textbooks to clarify the content. Additionally, she discussed potential exam questions related to the topic. After finishing the lesson, she allowed five minutes for the students to read the section in their textbooks. While they read, the teacher circulated around the room to ensure everyone was engaged and had their books. Once they completed their reading, she addressed their questions and encouraged student responses. To conclude, she assigned an activity where students filled out a blank chart in their textbooks. We left the class when the bell rang.

In the fifth hour, another teacher trainee and I conducted a substitution class for the same grade. We introduced ourselves and asked the students to do the same. We then distributed the Basic Science textbooks and assigned a portion for reading. We called on students randomly to read aloud and explain the material. At the end of the hour, we exited the classroom.

During the sixth hour, we had another substitution class in a different division of 8th grade. Again, we introduced ourselves. Some students showcased the pictures they had drawn during art class, while others performed a group song. We concluded the hour and left the class afterward.
