NSS ICE BREAKING
NSS ICE BREAKING
DATE :24 SEPTEMBER 2024
NSS Day is observed every year on September 24th to commemorate the launch of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in 1969, coinciding with the centenary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. The NSS is a student-driven initiative aimed at fostering personal development through community service. It bridges the gap between educational institutions and society while strengthening the connection between academics and the community. NSS volunteers participate in various activities, such as assisting in rural areas, slums, and voluntary organizations, along with taking part in special camping programs.
This year, guided by our NSS coordinator, Jaseena Miss, we observed NSS Day by hosting our inaugural NSS event, an "Ice Breaking" session. The event was carefully planned the day before, and Jaseena Miss invited Dileep Sir, an experienced NSS volunteer, as the chief guest.
The session took place in the General Hall after lunch. The program was hosted by Riya, who extended a warm welcome to Dileep Sir and our principal, Dr. Roy Sir, as well as the teaching and non-teaching staff. Prathiba Miss also introduced Dileep Sir briefly.
Dileep Sir began by introducing himself and shared valuable insights on the significance of the NSS in shaping individuals through community service, accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation. To engage the audience, he taught us the NSS clapping technique and the NSS song. We practiced the song and clapping repeatedly until everyone was synchronized.
He then led several group activities and games designed to promote teamwork. The 52 students were divided into smaller groups of at least eight people, with Dileep Sir providing clear instructions for each game. The session was filled with laughter and enthusiasm as everyone participated actively and enjoyed the activities.
As the college day ended around 3:30 PM, the program concluded with an inspiring speech by Dileep Sir. His words left a lasting impression on all of us. Sreedevi Miss expressed gratitude by delivering the vote of thanks to Dileep Sir and Jaseena Miss for organizing such an engaging and informative session. A memento was presented to Dileep Sir as a token of appreciation.
The event concluded with the distribution of sweets, and we were treated by laddus. This first NSS program not only taught us about the core values of NSS but also gave us the chance to bond as a team. We are deeply thankful to Dileep Sir and Jaseena Miss for providing us with such a memorable and enriching experience.
