KOTTARAKARA PULAMON STREAM PROJECT AND COLLEGE CLEANING  DATE: 27 SEPTEMBER 2024  KOTTARAKARA PULAMON STREAM PROJECT Cleaning efforts for the 'Recover Pulamon Stream' project commenced on September 27 in Kottarakkara, aimed at reclaiming the Pulamon stream, which flows through the Kottarakkara Municipal Corporation, Kulakkada, and Mylom Grama Panchayath. The cleaning campaign was led by Minister K.N Balagopalan, Kollam Rural SP K.M Sabu Mathew, and Municipal Corporation President S.R Ramesh Approximately 1,600 participants, including students, took part in cleaning the MC road area from Kunnakkara to Eyamkunnu.      This event preceded the Pulaman stream cleaning drive, scheduled for October 2, which will involve around 2,000 participants.  NSS ICE BREAKING   DATE :24 SEPTEMBER 2024        NSS Day is observed every year on September 24th to commemorate the launch of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in 1969, coinciding with the centenary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. The NSS is a student-driven initiative aimed at fostering personal development through community service. It bridges the gap between educational institutions and society while strengthening the connection between academics and the community. NSS volunteers participate in various activities, such as assisting in rural areas, slums, and voluntary organizations, along with taking part in special camping programs.  This year, guided by our NSS coordinator, Jaseena Miss, we observed NSS Day by hosting our inaugural NSS event, an "Ice Breaking" session.  ONAM CELEBRATION DATE:12 SEPTEMBER 2024 On September 12, all the student-teachers and teachers of Sabarigiri B.Ed College gathered to celebrate Onam. As first-year student-teachers, we were thrilled to celebrate our first Onam at the college. We were assigned to different committees, with each group given specific duties. I was part of the decorating committee, and we arrived at college by 8:30 am to begin our work on the decorations.  By 9:00 am, all the student-teachers had arrived, and everyone took up their responsibilities. Together, we created a beautiful athapookalam on the seminar hall stage. It was large and vibrant, and a small swing was also hung near the athapookalam.  FRESHER'S DAY DATE:10 SEPTEMBER 2024 Fresher's Day is a special occasion designed to welcome newcomers, strengthen the sense of community, and motivate junior students. The main goal of this day is to meet and greet the juniors.  Fresher's Day was celebrated on September 10. The seniors gave us a warm and friendly welcome. They named the event "JAGAPOKA." We were asked to dress up as movie characters, with a list provided, including characters like Kumbidi from Nandanam, the sisters-in-law from Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshatra Thilakam, Chocolate Girls, Ranga Annan from Avesham, and others. We all dressed up as these characters, adding vibrancy to the celebration.  The event started at 10:00 AM, with the seniors decorating the college with colorful paper and movie posters. The event, organized by the student teachers of the Natural Science Department, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of proper nutrition. Our respected Principal, Dr. Roy, along with several other teachers, graced the program with their presence, adding a sense of significance to the occasion and making it even more special for the students involved.  The program featured a blend of creativity and informative presentations. Students performed a musical skit, offering an engaging way to emphasize the importance of balanced eating habits. NSS SECRETARY SELECTION AND WAYANAD RELIEF FUND COLLECTION THROUGH LOTION CHALLENGE DATE :04 SEPTEMBER 2024 On September 4th, our college organized two major events that emphasized our students' dedication to giving back to the community. The first of these was the selection of the NSS Volunteer Secretary, a crucial position responsible for coordinating the social service activities of our college. Arvind and Anju were appointed to this role, marking the start of their leadership in our community service initiatives.    The second event was the launch of the Lotion Challenge Campaign, a fundraising project designed to assist families impacted by the severe landslide on July 30th.
