SPORTS DAY

 SPORTS DAY

 DATE:23 AUGUST 2024

Organizing a sports day at college is essential for promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy competition among students. It serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their athletic talents, boosts school spirit, and encourages active participation in physical activities, which are vital for overall health. Furthermore, sports days help develop leadership skills, improve time management, and cultivate discipline and perseverance. They also provide a much-needed break from academic stress, uplifting morale and fostering a sense of community on campus. In essence, sports days play a significant role in shaping well-rounded individuals and creating an energetic, positive atmosphere on campus.

Our Physical Education teacher instructed us to organize the 2024 sports day, which was scheduled for August 23rd. He assigned us into five committees: the Award Committee, Refreshment Committee, First Aid Committee, Technical Committee, and Announcement Committee. I was part of the Technical Committee.

We meticulously planned the event, discussing the details with our teacher and finalizing the events. These included the 100m, 400m, and 800m runs, the 4x100m relay, shot put, discus throw, cricket ball throw, sitting broad jump, and a minor game. Following this, we collected the participant list from the three houses: Earth House, Fire House, and Water House.

The day before the event, we prepared the ground and made all necessary arrangements. On the morning of August 23rd, everyone arrived at college early. Before starting the competitions, we held an inaugural session at the college. The principal hoisted the flag and officially opened the event. Aravind sir also gave a speech and provided us with instructions. We took a pledge, and then proceeded to the ground. The events were conducted under the supervision of Aravind sir, and each committee member performed their duties effectively. Major events were held during the forenoon session, while the minor games took place after the lunch break.

Earth House emerged as the champions with 49 points, while Fire House secured the first runner-up position with 41 points. The individual champions were Kunjulekshmi from Water House and Syam Kumar from Earth House. Once the event concluded, the principal, along with the teachers, distributed the prizes.
