INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
DATE: 15 AUGUST 2024
India celebrates Independence Day on August 15 every year, commemorating the end of British colonial rule in 1947. It is a day of national pride, honoring the sacrifices and struggles of freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and many others who fought for the country's independence. The event is marked by a ceremonial flag hoisting at the Red Fort in Delhi, where the Prime Minister delivers an address to the nation. Across India, people celebrate with cultural activities, patriotic songs, parades, and flag-raising ceremonies. Independence Day is a symbol of the nation’s unity, diversity, and its ongoing journey toward progress and self-determination.
The celebrations at Sabarigiri College of Education began on August 15 with a flag hoisting ceremony conducted by our Chairman, Dr. V. K. Jayakumar. The event saw participation from our Principal, students of Sabarigiri School, and several student teachers from the college.
On August 16, the Independence Day celebrations continued in the general hall. Our Principal delivered a speech about the significance of the day, followed by speeches from some student teachers. A quiz session was organized by our senior students, in which we also took part. Additionally, a group song was performed by us, with Amritha, Alaka, Pooja, Reeba, Malavika, and Silla contributing to the performance.
