ANTI-DRUG CAMPAIGN
ANTI DRUG CAMPAIGN
DATE :12 AUGUST 2024
On August 12, 2024, the NSS unit of Sabarigiri College of Education organized an Anti-Drug campaign in observance of Independence Day. The primary goal of the campaign was to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug use and to prevent people, especially the youth, from experimenting with or becoming dependent on drugs. The initiative aimed to educate the community about the negative impact of drugs on physical health, mental well-being, relationships, and society. Additionally, it sought to offer resources and support for individuals struggling with addiction, promote healthier lifestyle choices, and foster an environment that discourages drug abuse, empowering those affected by it to seek help and recovery.
The event was coordinated by our senior students. As it was our first program at the college, they guided us on the preparations, which included making placards, posters, and contributing with our own activities. We created several placards to spread awareness about drug use, and I personally made two placards as well.
The program took place in the general hall. Seven teacher trainees from our group performed a group song to raise awareness. Unnimaya, Bhavyasena, and Amritha showcased posters, while Pooja and Aishwarya delivered speeches on the topic of drug abuse. Our seniors also organized a quiz session, where four teams of two members each participated. Shamnad, Reeba, Bhavyasena, and Aishwarya represented our group in the quiz. Additionally, a video presentation was shown, featuring a street play performed by our super seniors to raise awareness about drug abuse. The video was impactful and made us realize the dangers of drugs.
To conclude the campaign, all the students and teachers of Sabarigiri College of Education took part in a rally from the college to a nearby junction. The purpose of the rally was to raise public awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. We carried placards and chanted slogans against drug misuse.
